The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organization dedicated to responsible forest management worldwide. FSC speaks of responsible forest management when the social, ecological and economic aspects involved in forest management are taken into account in a balanced way. FSC has arranged this in a transparent manner. Partly because of this, FSC is supported by all major environmental and development organizations.
And in that, FSC is unique!
Wood and paper products that come from an FSC-certified forest can be recognized by the FSC label. To ensure that products bearing this label actually come from a responsibly managed forest, all links in the product's supply chain must be certified. Only when, for example, a forest manager, paper mill, paper wholesaler and printer can demonstrate that they adhere to FSC rules can a product be sold as FSC and the FSC logo placed on it. The certification of these companies is done by independent certifiers.
The more demand there is for FSC products, the more acres of forest will be managed according to FSC guidelines and the more the people and animals that depend on the forest will benefit.

De stelen voor het tuingereedschap zoals de harken en bezems zijn gemaakt van FSC gecertificeerd hout. The FSC certified tauari and pinus stems come from Brazil. There are claims that tauari cannot be certified, we can absolutely disprove this claim. Our buyer visited Brazil June 2019 at our FSC wood supplier to see how the process goes. The wood processor has been assigned a reserve from the government to maintain. The wood processor has divided this area into 25 areas. One area is maintained each year. They start by taking a satellite photo, this way they can see exactly where the rivers run. This is important to know, because there must be a minimum of 30 meters between a tree and water in order to cut the tree. Dit is om te voorkomen dat er erosie ontstaat en modder met de rivier meegnomen wordt. Alle bomen worden vervolgens genummerd en de specificaties worden opgenomen. Wanneer alles op de kaart genummerd staat wordt er een plan gemaakt welke bomen gekapt mogen worden. Dit moet als voorstel ingediend worden bij de overheid. Hierbij houden ze rekening met dat geen enkele soort minder dan 3 bomen per hectare heeft. Na toestemming van de overheid beginnen ze met kappen. They cut an average of 12m2 per hectare. The PEFC certified ash wood stems for the shovels and spades have been produced in Staphorst since 1919. In various stages, wooden planks are processed into stems. Through our years of experience, we have a lot of knowledge about woodworking and about the different types of stems. For example, the batting stems have a perfect curve. Finally, the stems are provided with a layer of wax. The wax layer ensures that the handle feels fine and prevents blisters.
